Baseball Schedule 2020

Baseball Player expectations are found below schedule

Baseball Player Expectations

Rules and Guidelines

You are making the choice to join the baseball team, which means that you are now agreeing to represent your parents, yourself, Atlantic High School and me. We will do things a certain way and if you want to be a part of this team, you will be required to follow these rules. If broken, there will be consequences on a case by case basis.

  1. Our team G.P.A. will be set at a 3.2 and above. I understand that not all players are on the same level. If we set our mind on a 3.2 G.PA, and try our hardest, we should at least make a 2.8-2.9. Anything less than 2.5 will not be acceptable.

  2. We will complete and turn it in all homework assignments, activities, tests, etc. Missing work will result in extra conditioning, suspended games, or dismissal from the team.

  3. If possible, we will sit in the front of our classes.  It tends to be harder to focus while sitting in the back.

  4. NO cell phone use in class unless the teacher allows you to.  If you are supposed to be doing work, your cell phone should be in your pocket until you finish it.

  5. NO hats worn backwards, pants hanging down, shirts with inappropriate comments. We will have a clean image. I don’t mind beards. Keep them lined up and keep haircuts neat.

  6. Show respect to all students, teachers, and administrative personal. We will use terms such as, “yes sir”, “no sir”, “yes ma’am”, “no ma’am”, “thank you”, “no thanks”, etc.

  7. Watch your language.

  8. We will be gentlemen. Never disrespect a female. If you see a girl/lady walking behind you, hold the door open and allow her to walk in first.

  9. You must follow all school rules.

  10. Participate in all fundraisers, community service, and other team functions.

  11. NO DRUGS/ALCOHOL WILL BE TOLERATED!

Attendance

School is Mandatory

We will attend school every day, every period. For any reason you have to miss school, you must have written documentation stating that you have a legitimate reason to be out of school. As soon as you know that you won’t be in school, I must know. Unexcused absents won’t be tolerated.

In order to play in a game or participate in practice, you must attend at least half of the school day.

Be on time to every class.  Being late to class is like being late to a game in my eyes.

Practice is Mandatory

If for any reason you can’t make practice, I must know 24 hours before. Emergencies may happen and are understandable; however, emergencies don’t happen every day.

You will be allowed 1 missed unexcused practice and 2 missed excused practice.

Unexcused - Communication was given late and/or the reason for missing practice wasn’t a valid excusable reason.

Excused - Communication took place before hand and the reason was legitimate.

Dr. Appointments should be scheduled at the later end of practice. I prefer you leave practice early, than to not come at all. If you have to make up work with a teacher, that teacher must sign your tutor sign off sheet. Please try to meet with teachers during Power hour the best you can.

Injuries must be reported to me or the trainer. Having an injury DOES NOT excuse you from practices or any team functions.

Games

Every game day you will be given a report time for home games/away games. You must report on time in order to play.

We will wear our uniforms in the proper manner. You must wear socks, belt, and hat. YOU WILL NEVER WEAR YOUR HAT BACKWARDS.

We will respect the game of baseball, ourselves, coaches, parents and this school.

We will not talk back to the umpires.

We will not start anything with the other team.

We will not throw helmets or gear.

We will not speak to anyone outside of the dugout at any time during the game.

HAVE FUN

We will have a lot of fun however, we are here to become better people first. Baseball is great but one day we will have to hang up our cleats and on that day, it won’t be about how many games you won but what life lesson you learnt along the way.

IT’S NOT PUNISHMENT, IT’S DISCIPLINE.
